Technical Update"

We are now in July, and the summer break will be long. We need to disconnect; work in the studio has been intense, and we have spared no energy in our pursuit of sound, in writing new tracks, and in setting up a transmission system to broadcast a live stream directly from our studio—all things we have managed in parallel, requiring a great deal of commitment. A great deal of energy. We are happy with the results. Could we have done more? Perhaps, but for now, this is truly the maximum we have been able to achieve. We have carried this adventure forward together at our own pace, as we do not live solely from music and have other commitments, but our effort has been absolute. At the end of this journey, which we are sharing with those who follow our diaries, there will be our new album, Fenice, recorded with the utmost care and professionalism. There will be the live stream, which will allow anyone interested to follow a live performance directly from our studio and interact with us afterward via the YouTube chat.

We are aware that we have made radical choices—difficult ones, such as replacing a proven DAW with an open-source one that had to be completely configured, yet is extremely powerful, all to record in an absolutely professional manner and without compromising audio quality. We have designed the graphics for both the website and the physical format of Fenice, we have kept this diary and the site active to involve you in our creative journey, and finally, we have equipped ourselves to bring you closer, to let you enter our world and our studio. All of this is not for fame, which we know will never come, nor for money, which we know will not come either, but out of a pure necessity for artistic expression. We have invested in both hardware and software, and we have studied to optimize our available resources as much as possible. All of this is for the great passion that is music. We know very well that we are not a mainstream band, and we are not interested in being one—we have said it and repeated it a thousand times. We make music to be listened to with attention, without distractions; that is why we are not for the mainstream, nor are we for casual social gatherings. For the effort we put into our approach, and for the care and respect we have for music, we ask for only one thing in return: listen, do it with attention, dedicate that time to us, and respect our commitment. If you then discover that what we do is not to your liking, we certainly won't be the ones to hold you back; you will surely find what suits you best—music has millions of facets, styles, and genres, and you will certainly find something you enjoy. But if you stay with us, dedicate the proper attention and respect to our work.

We are now nearly 70% finished with Fenice, and we will likely be able to keep to the scheduled release date at the end of November 2026. In the meantime, transmission tests continue, as we try to refine the necessary settings—mostly for the video, because the audio is absolutely untouchable. We prefer lower video quality over substandard audio; however, in this research, we will try to please the eye as well, and we are working to make that happen. It is not easy, because unfortunately, we have a technical limitation that does not depend on us but on the infrastructure serving the Galactica's internet connection. We hope to be able to access broadband as soon as possible, but it is not guaranteed by the time of our broadcast. Therefore, we are trying to optimize the limited bandwidth as much as possible, optimizing the outgoing data stream as best we can, hoping for a more than acceptable result. We included screenshots of a transmission test in our previous news post that we feel are acceptable.

In short, the Galactica is not just a rehearsal room; it is a sound research studio, a television set, and our home. When we are ready for the live stream, everyone is invited to join us to spend a couple of hours together in our home, to listen to our music, and to have a chat among friends. If this program appeals to you, stay tuned—our website is our only official source of information.
