Update
Today's news focuses on a specific topic: research. Behind FENICE, there is certainly a human story of rebirth, of emerging from a forced silence caused by deafness, and of overcoming situations that life forces upon you, whether you are ready or not. It is the celebration of a return and a new way of hearing. But that is only one part of it.
FENICE is born from the necessity to communicate through sound. There is a deep and demanding level of research beneath what the listener hears in the tracks. First and foremost, the sound we produce is an active exploration of combinations between synthesizers, guitar, and drums, leading straight into experimentation. In the absence of a bass guitar, the synths cannot simply be a backdrop; they must actively seek out the missing frequencies and harmonize them with everything else. Tomorrow, barring any unforeseen issues, a new piece of hardware will be added to increase both the complexity and the harmonic research I mentioned. Naturally, everything must be reproducible in a live context: the research serves not only to find the sound but to ensure it can be recreated in specific settings.
The choice of a purely analog recording chain is another core aspect of our music: the signal enters exactly as it leaves the instruments. This is the guarantee that, even in a live setting, what you hear is exactly what we do at Galactica. Every track is the result of a meticulous, almost obsessive study of both sound and intent, because every song represents a piece of a life experience. This should lead the listener into an immersive experience within the sounds and colors we generate.
We are uncompromising when it comes to sound dynamics. Dynamics are the foundation of both expression and the intent of a song, which is why we do not use compression during recording, nor in live performances. This is also why we prefer not to play unless a venue meets three essential criteria: the acoustics, the sound system, and a sound engineer who respects our standards.
The decision to withdraw the preview is linked not only to the protection of our work but also to a factor of obsolescence that this preview is undergoing due to the continuous renewal of both hardware and software. Stay tuned, as there will be plenty of news. You have had the chance to hear two new tracks—which will remain available to give you an idea—but the production of the final work will be superior to anything you have heard so far.
